Shoham Amin | Founder & Principal

Shoham Amin, the Founder of Excel Group, is a tenured real estate investor with over 15 years of real estate investment experience, having overseen over $3.0 billion in principal real estate transactions.

Since launching Excel, Shoham Amin has led the acquisition of more than $550 million of hotel and debt instruments. Shoham oversees all facets of the firm including portfolio growth, strategy and capital execution.

Prior to launching Excel, Shoham partnered with Delshah Capital, a boutique distressed real estate private equity firm based in Manhattan, leading its acquisitions team as Vice President. While at Delshah Capital, he sourced and acquired over $150 million of distressed loans and commercial real estate assets and led the firm’s litigation strategy. Prior to Delshah, Shoham worked in acquisitions and development at Sunrise Senior Living.

Dan Lin | Vice President - Asset Management

Dan Lin leads the asset management of Excel Group’s portfolio. He is an accomplished hotel asset manager with over 25 years of experience, having asset managed over $3.0 billion of hotel assets.

Over the course of his career, Dan has developed extensive experience in value enhancement, market positioning, valuation and due diligence. He has worked with a broad spectrum of hotel assets ranging from select service to luxury in locations throughout the United States, Canada and Europe.

Prior to joining Excel Group, Dan served as Vice President of Asset Management at Host Hotels & Resorts, where he was responsible for asset managing a $300 million hotel portfolio. Prior to Host Hotels & Resorts, Dan was an asset manager at hotelAVE and a consultant at HVS International.

Benjamin Hur | Vice President - Finance & Accounting

Benjamin Hur leads the financial accounting, cash management and treasury functions at Excel Group. He has been an accounting executive in the hospitality industry for more than 15 years, having worked with some of the top management companies in the country.

Prior to Excel Group, Ben served as a Regional Controller for Pyramid Hotel Group, a leading hotel management company, overseeing and providing financial leadership for a hotel portfolio generating over $100 million in annual revenues. Prior to Pyramid, Ben worked at PM Hospitality Strategies, HEI Hotels & Resorts, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants and Denihan Hospitality Group in various finance roles.

Jeff Bartholomew | Vice President - Development

Jeff Bartholomew heads the development and project management functions at Excel Group. He is a tenured development and construction professional with over 20 years of experience., having overseen over $2.0 billion in development projects.

Prior to joining Excel Group, Jeff worked with Lendlease, one of the nation’s largest commercial real estate development and construction companies as a Development Manager for its Privatization of Army Lodging program consisting of the installation of over 14,000 rooms over 41 US Army bases. His responsibilities ranged from overseeing the new construction of various hotels to major hotel rehabilitation projects. Prior to Lendlease, Jeff worked for various firms including Price Waterhouse Coopers, IBM Consulting and Zapolski + Rudd in both development and finance roles.

Robert Brewer | Director - Acquisitions & Development

Robert is responsible for all acquisitions and dispositions at Excel Group. With over eight years of hotel real estate experience, Robert has orchestrated over $800 million in hotel transactions.

Prior to Excel Group, Robert was a Senior Associate at GFI Hospitality, a New York-based hotel investment, development and asset management firm where he assisted in growing the firm’s portfolio. There he was responsible for the firm’s investment efforts, including evaluation and underwriting of all hotel investments and acquisitions, hotel dispositions, partner relationship management and debt and equity fundraising. Prior to GFI Hospitality, Robert was a Senior Analyst at Ernst & Young on the Transaction Real Estate team, where he provided due diligence, strategic advisory and valuation services across all real estate classes to a worldwide client basis.

TJ McDermott | Senior Associate - Asset Management

TJ McDermott holds asset management responsibilities across Excel Group’s portfolio. With over 5 years of industry experience, TJ has asset managed over $750 million of hotel assets.

Prior to joining Excel Group, TJ was an Associate at CWCapital, a CMBS special servicing firm, where he assisted with asset managing hospitality assets under receivership and foreclosure, as well as underwriting over $750 million in hotel loans across numerous CMBS securitizations. Prior to joining CWCapital, TJ was an analyst in the asset management department at White Lodging, where he was responsible for portfolio analysis, financial planning and report development for both third party and internal ownership groups.
